Assert is a small team of advocates working as a project within the MHR Charity and part of the Kent Advocacy partnership. We provide high quality advocacy and IMHA services to individuals affected by mental health problems, in acute inpatient settings, forensic units and the community of Dartford and West Kent. We currently have a vacancy for a qualified IMHA Advocate to join the team working specifically in the Dartford area. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your advocacy skills as training will be provided if you are not yet qualified.
You’ll need to be self-motivated, committed and able to work using your own initiative, as well as having excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You’ll also understand the needs of people affected by mental health problems and be passionate about mental health advocacy. Ideally you’ll be qualified with the certificate in Advocacy with 306 (IMHA) as your specialism. If not yet qualified you must be prepared to start training immediately.
A willingness to work within a diverse range of environments is absolutely essential. The job will require some community advocacy in Dartford, plus work in forensic units across West Kent. We deliver services at 2 forensic units in Maidstone & Godden Green and rehabilitation units in Maidstone, Gravesend & West Malling. This is not an exhaustive list and it may be necessary to visit clients in settings across West Kent. Therefore own transport and ability to travel is essential. Working days are likely to be Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.
MHR offer 25 days annual leave pro rata, career development opportunities and flexible working.
We are committed to equal opportunities and promoting diversity, and encourage applications from all sections of the community. Enhanced DBS will apply.
To apply, please complete the application form referring to the job description and person specification within your supporting statement and send to Mrs Leigh Attwood, Office Manager – leigha@twmhr.org.uk . Standalone CV’s will not be accepted.
